GAUHATI HIGH COURT SHILLONG BENCH

The overall jurisdiction of the Gauhati High Court extends over Meghalaya also. The principal seat of the High Court is at Guwahati and at present a Circuit Bench has been functioning at Shillong since 1974.

The Shillong Bench of the Gauhati High Court was established on the 4th September 1974. The purpose for its creation is not only because Meghalaya has attained separate statehood but also to serve a constructive purpose for the dispensation of justice.

Inauguration of the Website of Gauhati High Court, Shillong Bench was on the 22nd October 2010 by Hon'ble the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court Mr. Justice Madan B. Lokur in the presence of the Hon'ble Mr Justice Tinlianthang Vaiphei,Portfolio Judge,Meghalaya and other Dignitaries.
